                                                                      The Talent show Finalists

The day came when we were waiting for the talent show finalists. The talent show was held by Aleena in the Multi Space.

There was nine people in it and they were Neha, Henry, Aryan, Kavisha, Gracy, Anjli, Taanvi, Ved and Rahi. The Judges were Ms Wilkes and Mrs Patrick.

So first up was Ved he was playing a guitar then as it went The judges gave comments to each nine of them. The one that I liked the best was Neha, Gracy and Kavisha because Neha Did a song that was sending a nice message and Gracy was dancing on a Indian song as well as Kavisha.I think they all did a great job for showing their talents.

The winners were Henry and Aryan for third place and Neha for Second place and Gracy for first place.

I really enjoyed it.

NYLD iMovie Learning Story - August 2015

Learners:  Jessica, Nisita & Karleil                                             Learning Coach: D Wilkes
Learning Area: KCs and Literacy                                                Date: Aug 5
Learning Observed
Jessica, Karleil and Nisita collaborated together to provide a wonderful and inspirational component to the ‘Leadership Experience’ as a long awaited follow up to the NYLD that all the Year 6s attended in Term 2.  The learners co-constructed a presentation and talk about the highlights from the NYLD day (which can be found in the Leadership Experience presentation).  They sparked the curiosity of the crowd with the strong message of leadership.  The learners loved watching the video and most walked away thinking about the leaders who have influenced them.  Practicing their public speaking, writing, presenting and leading was what they did while the audience enjoyed their entertaining iMovie.
Evidence of learning
Sharing the iMovie of NYLD highlights they co-constructed

Sharing what leadership means to them
Key Competencies/Vision Principles
While Jessica, Nisita and Karleil collaborated they made direct and indirect connections to their experience at NYLD and their knowledge of leaders/leadership.  They related to others, managed themselves responsibly and participated enthusiastically on the day.  They were collaborative and responded to changes with resilience.  The preparation for the presentation was great and their short blurbs were a nice finishing touch.
Next Learning Steps
  • add more pictures and sub-titles to the iMovie to make it longer
  • practice your speaking parts more before presenting so we can all hear you and slow down your pace as well
  • write a blog post about the afternoon including your reflections
  • share your learning with family at home

Zoo trip

.
                                                            The best zoo trip ever
What did we do and where we went?

Guess what on Thursday we went to the Auckland Zoo!I was so excited we went on a bus.We were in teams I was with Mrs Dillner and my friend. As soon as we arrived Me and my friend were asking each other so many questions like what types of animals we will get to see,are there any animals that we have not ever seen, what would our favourite animal be.Even peanut the pukeko went and even kea came with us at the trip.first we saw the red pandas there was a baby one and two adult ones and the last animal we saw was a elephant there were two elephants.

What was my favourite animal and why was it?

My favourite animal was the fur seals because we got to sea them swim. They were really big and really tall while they swam.I also like the red pandas because they looked cute and tiny.

What are some interesting facts I learnt from the zoo!

What I learnt was that when Flamingoes are cold they put one leg up to make it warm.
Another fact I learnt was that cheetahs are not good at fight for their preys but they are good at running.A cheetahs tail helps it move side to side faster to get there preys.Crocodiles have long narrow V-shaped snouts, while those of alligators are wider and U-shaped.
